The Department of Textile Engineering at Sonargaon University (SU), established in 2014, was founded to meet the evolving workforce needs of Bangladesh’s textile and RMG sector. The department is dedicated to developing competent textile engineers and technologists with strong knowledge and practical capability in manufacturing, testing and quality assurance, research and innovation, and other industry-relevant areas.

To enhance industry readiness, the department ensures continuous professional development and hands-on exposure. We regularly arrange seminars with academic and industry experts, ensure at least one mill visit every semester, and actively support students in managing internships with reputed factories. In addition, we arrange workshops on different practical and professional skills to strengthen student competency and employability. The department also provides career support and job placement assistance, and maintains strong collaboration and networking with renowned textile and garments industries, creating opportunities for industrial training, mentorship, and employment for our graduates.
